I know there was some discussion on the KDD page and for me it shows a lot of books I mentioned on Get Rec’d but they are not on sale price. Journal. This is a mystery novel. Elyse loved the first St. John book, but be warned, despite the colorful and fun cover, these are pretty dark.

By Katherine St. John, author of the lion’s den, comes another sublimely escapist thriller: when dangerously handsome megastar Cole Power hires his ex-wife Stella Rivers to star opposite him in their son’s movie, he unleashes a firestorm on a secluded island that will unearth long-buried secrets. .toand unravel years of lies.

In the midst of a sweltering hot summer, some of Hollywood’s most notorious faces gather on the idyllic Caribbean island of St. Genesius to film The mermaid. Written and directed by Cole Power’s son, the thriller promises to draw audiences in with its sultry story and intimately connected cast.

Three very different women arrive on set, each with their own motif. Stella, an infamously unstable actress, is struggling to regain the career she lost in the wake of multiple very public nervous breakdowns. Taylor, a rookie producer, is eager to work on a movie that she hopes will change her career after her last job ended in scandal. And Felicity, Stella’s mysterious new assistant, harbors designs of her own that threaten to upset all her plans.

With a hurricane approaching offshore, each woman finds herself trapped on the island, united against a common enemy. But as deceptions come to light, mistrust may prove more dangerous than the storm itself.

  • Monster, she wrote

Monster, she wrote by Lisa Kroger

RECOMMENDED: Monster She Wrote by Lisa Kröger and Melanie R. Anderson is $2.99! Carrie loved this one and gave it an A:

I can’t stress enough how well this collection hits the sweet spot of fun (Quotes! Illustrations! Anecdotes! Humor!) and informative. I will use this book as a resource frequently.

Meet the writers who defied convention to create some of the strangest tales in literature, from Frankenstein for The Curse of Hill House and beyond.

Frankenstein it was just the beginning: horror stories and other weird fiction wouldn’t exist without the women who created them. From gothic ghost stories to psychological horror and science fiction, women have been the main architects of speculative literature of all kinds. And his own life stories are as intriguing as his fiction. everyone knows about Mary Shelley, creator of Frankenstein, who was rumored to keep her late husband’s heart in her desk drawer. But have you heard of Margaret “Mad Madge” Cavendish, who wrote a sci-fi epic 150 years earlier (and liked to wear topless dresses on stage)? If you know the amazing work of Shirley Jacksonwhose novel The Curse of Hill House was reimagined as a Netflix series, then try the psychological appearances of Violet Paget, who was openly involved in long-term romantic relationships with women in Victorian times. You will meet famous icons (Ann Radcliffe, V. C. Andrews), forgotten wordsmiths (Eli Colter, Ruby Jean Jensen), and today’s avant-garde (helen oyeemi). Selected reading lists point you to their most chilling tales.

Part biography, part reader’s guide, the engaging writings and detailed reading lists will introduce you to more than a hundred authors and more than two hundred of their novels, novellas, and spooky mystery stories.
