• To Catch An Earl

RECOMMENDED: To Catch An Earl by Kate Bateman is $1.99! This is the second book in the Bow Street Runners series and Elyse gave it an A:

To Catch an Earl is a fun, fast-paced read with lots of sexual tension and capers a-plenty. It’s been one of my favorite books so far this year and I highly recommend it.

A case of secret identities finds reunited lovers on opposite sides of the law in this fun, flirty Regency romance.

There’s only one case Bow Street agent Alex Harland, Earl of Melton, hasn’t cracked: the identity of the mysterious woman who stole a kiss from him before he left for war. He’s neither forgotten nor forgiven her for leaving him wanting her. When he starts investigating the Nightjar, an elusive London jewel thief, he keeps running into the alluring Emmy Danvers, who stirs feelings he hasn’t felt in years.

Even though Emmy’s loved Alex for years, she can’t risk revealing her heart, or her identity as the Nightjar. With Alex on her case de ella, Emmy knows that her secrets de ella are in danger of being discovered. Their cat and mouse game heats up with every interaction, but when Emmy’s reputation—and life—is at risk, will Alex realize that some rules are made to be broken for love?

  • Elatsoe

    Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger

RECOMMENDED: Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger is still $2.99! I’m surprised I haven’t featured this one on Get Rec’d yet, since I do recommend this one a lot. It’s a spooky YA mystery with an asexual Indigenous teen as the main character. Really good.

Imagine an America very similar to our own. It’s got homework, best friends, and pistachio ice cream.

There are some differences. This America has been dramatically shaped by the magic, monsters, knowledge, and legends of its peoples, those Indigenous and those not. Some of these forces are charmingly everyday, like the ability to make an orb of light appear or travel across the world through rings of fungi. But other forces are less charming and should never see the light of day.

Elatsoe lives in this slightly stranger America. She can raise the ghosts of dead animals, a skill passed down through generations of her Lipan Apache family. Her beloved cousin of her has just been murdered in a town that wants no prying eyes. But she is going to do more than pry. The picture-perfect facade of Willowbee masks thick secrets, and she will rely on her wits, skills, and friends of her to tear off the mask and protect her family of her.

  • recluse

    Recluse by Helen Hardt

recluse by Helen Hardt is 99c! This is book two in the Wolfes of Manhattan series. I assume this could be fine as a standalone, though it does seem like there might be some setup in the previous book with a different couple.

    And it’s slowly drowning him.

When Charlene Waters’s boss married the new CEO of Wolfe Enterprises after a whirlwind romance, she brought her assistant along for the ride. Charlie now has a cushy new job at the billion dollar company, and she’s excited to begin her new venture.

Roy Wolfe is a recluse. He’s never taken an active role in his family’s business, and he has no desire to now. He’s only in the office to deal with the fallout from his father’s murder of him. He, along with the rest of his siblings, have all been implicated. Meeting Charlie Waters with the gorgeous silver eyes complicates things. Their chemistry is immediate and passionate, but he can’t be what she deserves.

Roy knows his father was hiding something even more sinister than his brothers and sister can imagine—something he witnessed years ago that he can’t bring to his conscious mind.

But he must—for Charlie, and for his family. Or they may all pay the ultimate price.
